Professional Review - "Jennifer E. Smith has taken the themes of young love, deep loss, and professional baseball - in the form of the hapless Cubs - and turned them into a terrific read that overflows with passion and insight. Lessons about the saving nature of hope pervade this story of memory and yearning. Here's one old sportswriter who calls The Comeback Season a leadoff homer by an All-Star rookie." - Rick Telander, senior sports columnist, Chicago Sun-Times

Personal Review - Ryan and Nick meet at a Cubs baseball game where they fall in love and she finds out that he has a secret that could destroy their relationship. The things i liked about the characters were how outgoing and protective they were over eachother. One thing i didn't like about Ryan was how emotional she was over Nick because it was annoying because she over reacted about everything and anything when it came to Nick. Nick was outgoing and didn't have a care in the world what people thought about him or his relationships.
What i didn't like about the book was when it talked about the history of the Cubs and the information about the games. It was just very boring and basic to me. One thing i did like about the book is how Ryan felt comfortable with baseball even though her dad had passed. I liked how they showed that it wasn't about the game of baseball it was about her dad.
I liked how the chapters were shorter but there was more of them. It made the book go by quicker. I didn't like how it was organized. For example it went from the history to talking about Ryan and Nick, and i didn't like that.
